Acuity’s free plan is legacy only, not available to new signups. If you still have access, it is more limited than paid tiers and, for non-Squarespace sites, the basic free plan does not support embedding your scheduler through Squarespace’s Scheduling block. Also, downgrading to the legacy free plan can cancel any active client subscriptions, so teams that sell packages should take care.
Common reasons are wanting code-free embeds outside Squarespace, needing SMS and other advanced automations without jumping tiers, or simply preferring something simpler to set up with less CSS tinkering. If you are not on Squarespace, those embed limits on the basic free plan are a frequent friction point
Pros, deep feature set with forms, payments, reminders, and a long history in appointment scheduling. Cons, no true freemium for new users, some key features are paywalled, and the cleanest no-code embedding experience is within Squarespace rather than outside it.
